Metallics

All heat-treated

4000 series alloys used within many of the high-strength satellite system actuators, fittings, valve bodies and flight systems. Hera understands the reaction materials experience when machining heat-treated materials thus our engineering takes into account feeds, speed, cutter wear and machine approach to control our customers’ extremely tight tolerance requirements.

Titanium

Is used where extreme temperatures are abundant in space and high strength is part of the requirement performance. Hera has seasoned machine operators who understand the nuances of machining complex titanium flight hardware with fixturing and machine processes used to minimize part distortion.

Stainless Steel

Is used in areas where corrosive properties are a risk to the Satellite such as fittings, vectoring systems and other Satellite components. Hera specializes in tool use and cutter wear to efficiently machine stainless steel while minimizing part distortion commonly found with this material. 

Aluminum

Is a primary lightweight material used for satellite structures, outer skins and inner working components. Complex machined geometry is no challenge for our Multiple 5-axis machines, lathes and high-speed mills used to produce the most complex flight parts.

Aluminum Honeycomb Core

Used for structural lightweight filler between outer and inner surfaces of system mounts and structural frames. Hera has the high-speed machining solution for all honeycomb core design configurations. Hera offers the latest in core cutting using 5-axis routing, 5-axis milling, 5-axis Ultrasonic knife cutting and laser cutting.

Hera Technologies provides a complete 6500 Sq ft turnkey composites structures manufacturing facility with isolated process separation rooms and ISO Cl 8 environmental controls used for Laminating carbon Prepreg, Bonding with Epoxy and Silicone to Substrates.

Hera Technologies provides design and build of tools required for in-house laminating, bonding and assembly.

Hera also houses the latest technology in High-speed 5-axis core machining, Ultrasonic Knife cutting & Laser cutting.

Hera houses multiple Curing Ovens and Auto Claves to service part envelope sizes up to 17 ft. x 18ft. x 10ft.

Our CNC ply-cutting equipment provides accurate, efficient ply kits and our overhead lasers provide accurate, efficient laminate application locations.
